Have you heard about the Packers player who tried to catch passes as part of the US Mail delivery service on Lake Geneva?

It really happened for Donald Driver during a promotional shoot for Visit Lake Geneva! It included stops at the Safari Lake Geneva Zoo, where he shared camera time with the resident camels and giraffes, along with several other hot spots in the area.

Driver remains a fan favorite. The 48-year-old played for the Green Bay Packers his entire NFL career. He holds franchise records for the most receiving yards and receptions during his 14 years with the green and gold.

And while catching a football has always been fairly easy for Driver, what about the challenge to catch the boat while delivering mail around the lake? He sure gives his all with some laughs in between. You can watch the video here.

By the way, the “mail jumper” is usually a college student, and throughout the summer, delivers mail to about 75 homes around Lake Geneva. The service has been around for more than 100 years, but watching the delivery in action has turned it into a popular attraction. It includes a tour with stories about the area as part of the Lake Geneva Cruise Line.

And Driver, the former Green Bay great, didn’t think twice about coming back to Wisconsin to be involved in this commercial.

He still hosts the Donald Driver Charity Softball Game at Fox Cities Stadium in the Appleton area every summer. It always brings in current and former players along with a sell-out crowd in support of a variety of nonprofit organizations.

It must be the combination of Driver’s caring attitude and big smile that continues to catch the hearts of Packers fans from all around the state.
